As most of you already know, 9 months ago Tantrum Tot was evaluated by his pediatrician (at 21 months) with a tentative (we suspect autism type of diagnosis). Then he was sent to Speech and Hearing, where he was evaluated and diagnosed with a severe repetitive, expressive speech delay, and suspicion of autism.
The Tot’s pediatrician referred him to the Developmental Pediatrician, which is a three hour drive IN ONE DIRECTION and has been a 9 month wait for an appointment to, as his doctor put it, “confirm what we already suspect.” So today is confirmation day I suppose.
Getting ready to load a sleeping Tot into the car for a three hour car ride to the medical center this morning, followed by a 5 hour appointment with two doctors (that should be fun) and a long long long three hour ride back home. It is going to be a very long day.
Five hours with the Tantrum Tot and doctors—that should be very interesting. They should see him in all his Tantrum Tot glory and hopefully his Flap Jack-ness (Flap Jack has been developing as his I’m really happy now nick-name) because for the Tot, FLAPPINESS = HAPPINESS!
Not looking forward to this, but off we go! I’ll keep you posted.
“Flap Jack” makes me smile. I can just imagine all the flappy happiness.
Of course he didn’t display any of the excited flappy happiness for the doctors at UMSC
When my son had his evaluation, we were shocked that he didn’t spin.
