Social Stories for Autistic Children

This infographic is an excellent summary. I hope you find it helpful and take a moment to let me know how you’ve implemented using social stories with your kiddos.

If you’ve used social stories, how did it go? What was successful? Some have reported using flash cards like these on Amazon with success.  I’ve found for my little guys using real pictures of their surroundings, the people they know (especially for my non-verbal 5-year-old), and places we will go work better than generic pictures.  Admittedly, this is time-consuming but what isn’t? The specificity helps.  But, that does not mean the flashcards are not helpful, they use them in my little guy’s preschool with success.

What advise do you have? What worked for you?
