Since we are in NYC anyway, the boys have asked to see the sights. Their idea of seeing NYC completely revolves around their interests and favorite movies. Yesterday, we took a trip to central park in order to seek out Belvedere Caste. Little Man (9) wanted to see where the Smurfs beat up Gargamel.
On our way to the castle, we of course, had to stop to climb the trees! What else would we do? And, Yes, I use the little leashed back packs to take five boys to central park!! Especially since the Tot is a runner!!
When we finally found Belvedere Castle, the little man (9) was a bit perturbed. He was upset that the castle was closed, and that he could not find any smurfs anywhere! When we left the park, we headed over to Times Square and ate McDonalds of course (because what else would we eat even 700 miles from home) sitting outside watching the world go by. The Tot loved watching all the “TV’s” (lit-up billboards), and was stalking a dancing red dragon and Iron Man.
The little man still was not ready to leave Manhattan though because he HAD to see the Empire State Building. We drove down 5th avenue, and I thought it was going to be a problem that we could not go inside, but he was OK with that. After all, only Demi-gods are allowed in! He was extremely happy that he had found Olympus!
Our outing was not without meltdowns and madness but overall we had a very nice, if not exhausting, time in the city. What to do today???
Lovely family! Sooo don’t blame you for the leashes. Never been to NYC, sounds potentially over stimulating. Funny how kids seek out the familiar away from home.
Also had a recent trip with multiple meltdowns, but well worth it!
I’m sorry for your loss, & glad your fam is finding fun things to do.
very nice. ill never go to new york. not ever. no way. someone else would have to drive, and ill need secret service to follow me around so no one will touch me. gives me the willies. 😛
either way, wanted to kudos you on the leash! yay for leashes!! i wish i could use one still, but it would look a bit strange on my 6 almost 7 year old. 😛
